Taxis, while more of a luxury, is the best way for tourists who do not want to bother renting car to get around the immediate Miami Beach and city of Miami area. All taxis are regulated by the county and in their vehicles should have their decal with their registration number and picture clearly displayed. Taxis are required to have SunPass transponders, prepaid toll account, which will be added to your fare later.
Rates are as follows:
- $2.50 for the first 1/6 of a mile.
- $.40 for each additional 1/6 of a mile.
- $.40 per minute wait charge.
- Trips from Miami International Airport or Port of Miami incur a $2 surcharge to their fare.
