Lincoln Road

Some people call Ocean Drive or Collins Avenue the heart of South Beach, but locals and tourists in-the-know know Lincoln Road is the area's real heart and soul. Residents and tourist mix in a Morris Lapidus-designed pedestrian mall that runs from Washington Avenue to Alton Road. Establishments include a mix of boutiques, chain stores, sidewalk restaurants and cafes, bars and galleries.

Popular stores like Victoria's Secret, Gap, Apple, Starbucks, Banana Republic, French Connection and Anthropologie sit alongside funky one-of-kind shops, independent bookstores and a eclectic mix of restaurants serving every type of food imaginable. At the end of the strip lies the Regal South Beach Cinemas where blockbuster hits are played along sleeper indie movies.

If you are searching for hotels near Lincoln Road we recommend at the Loews Miami Beach Hotel, or the The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach. The Ritz is actually located on 1 Lincoln Rd. so it doesn't get any better than that. Keep in mind that to get to the pedestrians-only portion of Lincoln, you'll need to walk two blocks west from this hotel. However, if what you're looking for is a more personalized experience, a great boutique hotel in the area is Miami's Cadet Hotel.

If you prefer something a little less fancy, try the Claremont Hotel, the National, and the Catalina Hotel. To check out all the different options, visit our section on hotels near Lincoln Road.

Great travel tip: You don't have to spend much to enjoy Lincoln Road. The most entertaining part of this promenade are the people. Pull up a chair outside at any of the restaurants on Lincoln and order a nice cocktail, then sit back and enjoy the show.
