South Beach - Miami Hotels .com
Mansion, Cameo, Prive, Opium Garden - all the nightclubs celebrities are usually photographed in call South Beach home. The majority of the mega-clubs are situated on the Washington Avenue strip, but there are plenty bars and smaller clubs located on side streets and areas such Lincoln Road and SoFi (South of Fifth).Avoid the clubs and bars located on Washington Avenue in between Eight and Fifth Streets, they are seedy and are not worth the money. Most try to entice pedestrians walking by with gimmicks promising good drink specials or plenty of ladies inside. Even if you get a good deal, you are probably going to wind up spending 5 minutes in the venue and realizing you just got taken advantage of. Bars on Ocean Drive are usually just tourist traps providing little nightlife excitement even if the cover and drinks are cheap.
Rule of thumb, if there is a mob of people begging to get inside that is usually a good sign it is probably worth the hassle. You are probably going to wind up paying a $20 to $100 cover charge depending on the night or DJ on the decks. To avoid a cover charge, concierge services at most South Beach hotels can usually get you on a guestlist. Bottle reservations will insure you and your party will be ushered in quickly.
Also don't count out hotels themselves. Many have stylish lounges and bars that are a hit with locals and tourists a like, including: Social Miami at The Sagamore, Sky Bar at The Shore Club and Art Bar at The Delano.
