World-famous DJs and party people dancing until noon is the norm in Downtown Miami's Park West District. While the rest of Downtown remains desolate after 5 p.m., Park West, the area directly south of 395 and the Carnival Center and west of Biscayne Boulevard, attracts clubbers from all over the county who wants to do some serious partying. Velvet ropes aren't so much the problem here as are the hefty covers and long lines to get in.
At the center of the district is Space, 34 NE 11th St., the world-famous mega-club that put Miami nightlife on the map and proved such a place could work away from the confines of South Beach. In addition, next-door neighbor and direct competitor Nocturnal, 50 NE 11th St., and live-music oriented Studio A, 60 NE 11th St., have added to the eclectic mix of venues popping up in the area.
But what truly sets this area apart is the 24-hour liquor license available to anyone in the district who requests them. Yes, alcohol can be served 24 hours, 7 days a week. That means there is no required closing time for any venue in the district. As long as there are bodies, these clubs will keep the music going.
