In an unusual predicament, Coconut Grove finds itself being both a relaxing, laid back place where sidewalk cafes are the norm and being the unofficial college town for nearby University of Miami in Coral Gables. Many college students and young adults from Miami's southern suburbs flock to the Grove - as it is often referred to as by the locals - keeping the area abuzz until the early morning hours.
The demographic of the Coconut Grove is a lot younger than South Beach or Park West, so unless your age ranges from 18 to 21, you are probably not going to be too impressed. Nevertheless, the Grove has been a nightlife hotspot as long as South Beach has been one as well.
Cielo Garden & Supper Club, 3390 Mary St., has perched itself at the top of the bunch as one of the Grove's best places to party. Others include Oxygen, 2911 Grand Ave., and Flavour, 2895 MacFarlane Road.
