The Orange Bowl was conceived by Earnie Seiler who wanted the top teams playing for a primetime crowd on the New Year's Day. The bowl game held annual in Miami was first played in 1935. FedEx, the international courier and freighter, has been the main sponsor of the games and since 1989. As a part of the college football BCS Bowl Games, thousands travel to Miami to root for their favorite teams as millions more watch from home. Once every four years, it plays host the BCS National Championship Game.
The bowl has produced some of the most unforgettable games in college football history, including two National Championships.
Played at the Dolphin Stadium, in the
northwestern suburb of Miami Gardens, the FedEx Orange Bowl is
quintessential Miami. The unforgettable shows, concerts and tailgate
parties take place the days leading up to the big game.
