South Beach
You've seen it on television - Ocean Drive, barely there bikinis and a strip of Art Deco buildings. Welcome to South Beach, the urban beach neighborhood where models are plentiful and beautiful people are the only people, where the days are hot but the nights are hotter.

South Beach is a 23-block neighborhood at the southernmost end of the city of Miami Beach. It is home to the infamous Art Deco Historic District, Lincoln Road and iconic hotels such as the Delano Hotel and the Loews Miami Beach Hotel.

On Washington Avenue, between the tourist trap souvenir shops and hole-in-the-wall restaurants you'll find some of Miami's most notorious nightclubs like Mansion and Cameo.

Between 5th and 15th Streets lies the most famous strip of sand in all of Miami. Lummus Park and its public beach is more commonly referred to as simply South Beach, but it is here where hard bodies converge to soak up the sun. It is also one of the only topless beaches in the United States.

Dining choices in South Beach are endless, popular restaurants require a reservation but if you are hesitant to choose ahead, many restaurants post their full menu outside, prices included. Good tip, if the place seems full, it's probably worth a visit. SushiSamba droMo, 600 Lincoln Road (305-673-5337), is hip and trendy in both its food and décor. Japanese cuisine in fused with South American flavors in order to reinvent what we've come to expect from your average sushi bar. Los Angeles transplant, Table 8, 1458 Ocean Drive (305-695-4114), is a hit with celebrities and Miami's elite.

If money is no object, the place to stay in South Beach is definitely The Setai which has a high level of service rarely seen in hotels in the area. For those on more modest budgets, the Marriott South Beach built its property in the common Art Deco style right on Ocean Drive giving you that only-in-South-Beach feel but not at South Beach prices.
