The area is very small, a "village" of only about 3,000 residents. If you are looking for crazy late nights and never ending parties, try South Beach. This place is made for relaxation and shopping.
The area is best known for the Shops at Bal Harbour, one of the only malls in the United States that is still family owned. But at this mall you aren't going to find tacky food courts and kiosks selling useless knick-knacks. This open-air mall features hundreds of luxury boutiques and department stores among perfectly manicured gardens catering to the discriminating shopper. Gucci, Channel, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Hermes, Marc Jacobs, Valentino, Dolce & Gabbana and more can all be found here.
All that shopping is bound to make you hungry, so stop by Carpaccio, 9700 Collins Ave. (305-867-7777), located inside the Shops. This Italian eatery is often referred to as Miami's answer to the Ivy in Beverly Hills.
A St. Regis will open within the next two years at Bal Harbour, replacing the notorious Art Deco building once occupied by the Sheraton Bal Harbour. But there are still plenty of great options to choose from. The Sea View Hotel is Bal Harbour's oldest luxury hotel catering to those who expect the best. Timeless decor and attentive service is norm here. The newly built Regent Bal Harbour offers spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean and a pristine beach.
