Florida Marlins
The Florida Marlins have enjoyed some success in their seventeen years as a franchise. In their fifth year they became the youngest team in baseball history to win a world series. They managed to win another one in 2003. The Marlins have never lost a playoff series. The team has been criticized for trading away good players, creating some valleys in between the two times they reached the top of the mountain, but the team seems to be getting ready for another attempt at the summit
The 2011 Florida Marlins will build their team around a number of young stars. The franchise tags will be on shortstop Hanley Ramirez and pitcher Josh Johnson. 2009 Rookie of the Year Chris Coughlan and newcomer Mike Stanton are the latest products of a Marlins farm system that continues to bread superstars. There is another factor that will help attract more talent to Miami in the years to come.
The Florida Marlins are getting ready to start the season in their new stadium. This is not just any stadium; this will be the most spectacular venue in baseball, a big upgrade from sharing a football stadium with the Miami Dolphins. An intimate baseball stadium with a retractable roof, that doesn’t have a bad seat in the house, is a great start. The massive aquarium behind home plate is just one of the many extras that will help create the new Florida Marlins baseball experience.
